READING
TO BLIND CHILDREN PROGRAM
The Foundation has instituted this program to stimulate
and promote the mental health of blind children. In many
cases, corneal transplants fail and children with eye
birth defects remain permanently blind. Periodically,
a group of these children are invited to our office and
volunteers read to them. This program has been very successful
and is much appreciated by the parents. It also provides
a way to keep in touch with our patients to ensure they
know about future developments at the Foundation.

THE
INDIGENT CLINIC Cedars-Sinai Medical Center has a special eye clinic for patients without health insurance. This clinic provides eye care for patients in need of a wide range of services. It is also a teaching clinic for our residents and fellows. Our foundation supports the salary of the physicians who staff this clinic, undergo training and participate in clinical research. |

THE
GIFT OF SIGHT
The Foundation completed its first mission in January
2007, when Dr. Batool Jafri donated her surgical services
to give the gift of sight to six Iraqi children, who
have been blind since birth because of corneal opacities.
All of the surgeries were a success, and within twenty-four
hours the children experienced vision for the first
time in their lives. This mission would not have been possible had it not been for the efforts of the U.S. Multi-National Forces stationed in Baghdad, Iraq and Amman, Jordan, the dedicated doctors at the Iraqi National Assistance Center in Baghdad, M.S. Noor, M.D., Ph.D at the Eye Speciality Hospital in Amman, Jordan, Tissue Banks International, and Alcon.
Generous donors make the gift of sight possible for
infants and children around the world and here at home.
Please help us deliver this life-changing service by
making a donation today. |
